This practice text was composed by the great terton Mingyur Dorje, who had a vision of the Second Karmapa Karma Pakshi as the embodiment of all the gurus, yidams, dakas, dakinis and Dharma protectors — the single source of the Three Jewels and the Three Roots. Later other masters, like the Fourteenth Karmapa Tekchok Dorje or Palden Khyentse Özer, the Second Jamgön Rinpoche, added the ritual parts and supplications to create a complete sadhana used nowadays. It should be used with care and only by those who received the appropriate empowerment, transmission and instructions from a qualified lama.

This Short Guru Yoga on the Root Lama Karmapa by the Third Kyabje Dorlop Tenga Rinpoche is a guru yoga for making your own body, speech, and mind inseparable from three vajras of body, speech and mind of the Seventeenth Gyalwang Karmapa. The text encapsulates the meaning in a few words and is easy to practice regularly. Originally, Tenga Rinpoche asked the Gyalwang Karmapa several times to write his own short guru yoga. The Karmapa said he would look into it, but did not write one. Later, Kyabje Rinpoche himself prayed with one pointed faith and devotion and wrote this short guru yoga. He showed it to the Karmapa and asked whether it would be permissible to use it for practice, and the Karmapa gave his blessings, saying it would be permissible to use this text for practice. Tenga Rinpoche also composed a melody for it, which is included in the EPUB file.

Amrita of Eloquence is beautifully written by Lama Karma Drodhul (Rinpoche’s nephew and disciple), and elegantly translated by Lama Yeshe Gyamtso, with a foreword by the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje, and prefaces by the Ninth Traleg Kyabgon Rinpoche and the Ninth Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche. A Sadhana of Medicine Buddha Compiled from the Luminous Expanse of Mind Treasures, Found within the Sky Dharma This practice of Medicine Buddha comes from the mind treasures of the terton Namchö Mingyur Dorje (1645–1667) and belongs to his Sky Dharma (namchö) treasury. It was Karma Chakmé (1616–1678) who compiled the present practice from these texts. It comes from these two master’s combined Dharma and is filled with their blessing. The text is concise while encompassing all that is needed to bring spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being. As other yidam deity practices, it can lead to full awakening.
