The Guru Yoga “Showers of Blessings”
Our Kagyu tradition is a transmission of blessings, and the main way to receive blessings is to supplicate the root and lineage gurus. Over the centuries, great masters have written guru sadhanas for this purpose, and many generations of practitioners have developed devotion, experience, and realization through these practices. However, until recently, there had not been any such practice for the forefather of the Karma Kamtsang, Karmapa Dusum Khyenpa.
On the occasion of the Karmapa 900 celebration of the 900th anniversary of Karmapa Dusum Khyenpa’s birth, His Holiness the Gyalwang Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje wrote this special guru yoga for Dusum Khyenpa. At his request, the heart sons Their Eminences Tai Situ Rinpoche, Jamgön Kongtrul Rinpoche, and Goshir Gyaltsab Rinpoche also wrote supplications, offerings, and auspicious prayers to be recited during the practice. When recited with faith and devotion, this guru sadhana is certain to plant the seeds of devotion in the practitioner’s heart.
The cover of this eBook edition also features a portrait of Karmapa Dusum Khyenpa painted by the Seventeenth Gyalwang Karmapa himself.
