The Profound Essence Tara
This Green Tara practice, a terma of Terchen Chokgyur Lingpa whose full title is The Essence of the Two Accumulations: The Mandala Ritual from the Profound Essence Tara, a Mind Treasure, is widely renowned for its efficacy in removing obstacles and fulfilling wishes for our dharma practice and our daily lives. For this reason, it is often recited every morning at Tibetan monasteries, nunneries, and dharma centers in all the different schools. It features several repetitions of one of the best loved praises of Tara, the Homages to the Twenty-One Taras taught by Mahavairochana in a tantra.
This new electronic edition features recitations in Tibetan of the Homages as well as of the prayers to Guru Rinpoche by the Seventeenth Gyalwang Karmapa. The new English translation was rendered in poetic meter so that it can be sung with the same melodies as the Tibetan, and this eBook includes recordings of the Homages in English as well.
As this practice comes from a terma, it is customary to begin the practice by reciting prayers to Guru Rinpoche and Yeshe Tsogyal that have also been included here. We have also provided other, optional prayers to Guru Rinpoche that serve the similar purpose of removing obstacles and fulfilling one’s wishes.
Note: As in the case of any other Vajrayana practice, we need to point out that this ritual can be practiced only by people who have received the necessary permission, empowerment and instructions from a qualified Vajrayana teacher.
